  • New training activities for prison staff

Institutional management, health of the organization, change management and relations with media were the basic topics for the seminar organized by the Department of Penitentiary Institutions in cooperation with NORLAM.  The seminar took place on 16-17 of December and had as target-group Deputy Chiefs in various services and subdivisions of the Moldovan prison system.

The topics are actual, relevant and important for good governance in the prison administration because they approach such issues as: how to manage time and change, how to promote a good image of the institution in media, how to make decisions, how to overcome crisis, etc.

The training sessions were held by both local experts and NORLAM advisors, who provided theoretical knowledge as well as practical exercises meant to strengthen teambuilding and joint their effort in finding common solutions for urgent and difficult problems that exist in prisons.

Evaluating the usefulness of the activity, participants mentioned that the seminar offered good instruments for examining real work situations and interesting work methods from international practice related to motivation of staff, setting objectives, ensure an equal treatment of detainees.

Note: The cooperation between DIP and NORLAM for the last 2 years recorded successful results. One would be organizing various trainings attended by circa 200 employees from the prison system.
